HAIR LOSS TREATMENTS

WITH INJECTIONS OF MINOXIDIL AND DUTASTERIDE

Mesotherapy for hair loss, utilizing a combination of minoxidil and dutasteride injected directly into the scalp, is a minimally invasive treatment for individuals experiencing androgenetic alopecia (male or female pattern baldness) by delivering these medications directly to the hair follicles, potentially maximizing their effectiveness while minimizing systemic side effects. It has a very high patient satisfaction rate as it helps to stabilize current hair loss and increase new hair growth and thickness of hair.

How it works

Mechanism of action

Minoxidil, a vasodilator, improves blood flow to the scalp, promoting hair follicle activity and stimulating hair growth, while dutasteride acts as a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, reducing the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a key factor in hair loss.

Delivery method

Mesotherapy involves injecting a solution containing minoxidil and dutasteride into the scalp using fine needles, allowing the medications to reach the targeted hair follicles directly. The scalp is numbed with a topical cream for approximately 20 minutes prior to the procedure.

Potential benefits of mesotherapy with minoxidil and dutasteride

Targeted delivery

By injecting the medications directly into the scalp, mesotherapy can potentially achieve higher concentrations at the hair follicles compared to topical application, leading to improved efficacy.

Synergistic effect

Combining minoxidil and dutasteride in a single injection may provide a synergistic effect by addressing both blood flow and DHT-related hair loss mechanisms.

Potential for faster results

Some studies suggest that mesotherapy may lead to faster visible hair growth compared to oral or topical treatments alone.

Minimal side effects

When administered by Dr. Pickup or Dr. Crone, mesotherapy is generally considered safe with minimal side effects, which may include mild redness, swelling, or discomfort at the injection sites.

Protocol

The protocol includes a monthly injection to the scalp for 3 months, followed by maintenance injections every 3-4 months.

This is a cosmetic procedure that costs $800/treatment. A deposit of $300 is required when the appointment is scheduled.
